Oakley, mostly known for its sunglasses and high-end ski-goggles also develops other accessories such as watches, clothing, bags, etc. On June 21, 2007 an Italian group, Luxottica announced a merger with Oakley worth $ 2 billion, and the deal was completed on 15th of November 2007. Oakley’s “O” is placed on most of their sunglasses; they also print a skull logo on some of their accessories and most of their clothing. It was founded in 1975 by Jim Jannard and it has its headquarters at Foothill Ranch, California, USA. Like many other brands, Counterfeits of Oakley are available in the market such as *Foakleys*, *Joakleys* and one other very interesting name i.e. Oakeys. The Oakley corporation also owns *dragon* and it manufactured the famous eyewear for fox racing. In 2006, Oakley acquired Oliver people’s group, a manufacturer of high-end eyewear.

Oakley uses different kinds of materials for its sunglasses such as the Acetate, which is use for the women specific sunglasses and are not very widely used, then comes C5, which is used in the Wire series. Magnesium was used earlier on but later discontinued because the ceramic coating oxidized, O-luminum was the name given to the models in which aluminum was used as a material, now a days only the Razrwire is in production out of all the models, which contained aluminum. O Matter is used to describe all the glasses, which were made up of plastic. Titanium is also in use. X-metal is a titanium alloy used in the premium series known as *X-metal*. There are two types of lenses currently in use for all of Oakley’s sunglasses known as Plutonite, made up of polycarbonate, it offers UV protection and offers protection from harmful blue light. Lexan is also used in some goggles.

Oakley sunglasses routinely appear in popular movies such as the X-men series, MI-2, Blade 2, Black hawk down and others….Oakley also supports race car drivers such as Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya etc. Rapper T-Pain has used the name *Oakley* in many of his songs, another rapper Lil’ John is both a collector and spokesperson for the company; he has modeled in many ad’s for the company. Oakley also has a lifetime deal with Lance Armstrong, who won the Tour de France cycle race seven times in a row. Oakley stuff was also used in the game Rainbow Six. Oakley is fiercely competing with the likes of Ray-ban and Armani.
